What's the word? Is it 'avuncular'?

There is a commercial that plays on the radio here fairly often for a lipo-dissolve service here in the STL area. It features a guy talking about now that his wife "has her curves back" he loves her more. I would punch Greg in the head if he ever said that he'd love me more if my waist was smaller. I hate hearing that advertisement. I hate it as much as the laser hair removal commercial where the lady talks about how she used to worry about her legs being too hairy for her husband when she'd go a few days without shaving. That sometimes he'd touch her legs and be all grossed out, so now he's happier that she's always smooth or whatever. Maybe I'm bad a girlfriend, but seriously, if Greg wants to get down to business he can flippin deal with my non-freshly shaved legs. (Dad, I am so sorry if you are reading this post) I have to deal with his scruffy face. If you are going to pay a bunch of money to chemically/surgically change your body, do it for yourself dude. Not for your ungrateful partner. Anyway....

I had my first night at my new part time job last night. I'm working about 10 hours a week at the Blockbuster down my street. So far so good, although my knees killed last night. I need to get used to being on my feet. I'm working again tonight, and I'm a little worried about how working there is going to affect my sleeping and hanging with Greg schedule. I was really tired this morning (I still am). Ah well. Free rentals! Heck yes! I'm mostly looking forward to the video game rentals since those are so expensive normally.

I'm super excited for tomorrow as I will be heading to MSP to see my lovely friends Michele and Sarah. We are going to a Buffy sing-a-long tomorrow night, and you bet your bottom dollar I am all kinds of excited. I'm just hoping a don't embarrass myself too much as whenever I watch "Once More, With Feeling" by myself I get choked up when Willow realizes where Buffy was when she died. That Alyson Hannigan! Such a good crier!

28 Week's Later: The beginning of the movie is freakin' awesome. The direction, the music, the acting, the craziness... The rest of the movie is pretty good too - but the beginning! Which is funny since 28 Days Later also has a great beginning, but for kind of opposite reasons. Anyway, some silly plot contrivances but overall I really enjoyed it.

Pan's Labyrinth: Fabulouso! I'm torn between really loving the non-fantastical story line, but also wishing there would have been a little more fantasy. I need to watch this again though, as I might have been under the influence on first viewing. I think seeing it sober while make me appreciate it more.

The Fountain: Weird. Pretty. Sad. Confusing. Pretty. I can totally understand why some people love it and some people hate it.

Little Children: Meh. I didn't get it. After reading some reviews I can see why people really liked it, and there was more to it than I was seeing. But, overall, I was bored. (Which is pretty much how I felt about Field's last film In the Bedroom) It had a very pretty cast though.

On the Lot: So much potential! So boring! I will probably keep watching hoping that they fix the format, because I am interested in the director's short films. I'd also like to see some "behind the scenes" stuff - hopefully they'll start showing that at some point.

You're a marshmellow, Veronica Mars. A twinkie.

Veronica Mars aired its last episode ever last night.

It broke my heart. The last 10 minutes were so GD depressing, just thinking about it now I'm getting choked up.

I should have called in sick today.

Tidbits:

I was a big Paula Abdul fan back in the day. When I was younger (around 7 or 8 I'd guess) my friends and I would pretend like we were contestants on Star Search, and I'd make up dances to her songs. I heard "Forever Your Girl" the other day at work and there is a line that says "You should know that I don't need nothin' that money can buy." I used to think the line went, "You should know that I don't need nothin' that Monica might." Like, Paula was competing with some chick named Monica for the guy's affections.

I liked Spiderman 3. Lots of fun.

Pointfest was good. I really liked Wolfmother and The Killers were as excellent as expected. I don't really care for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus but during the show they gave a shout out to Middleburg, FL - where they grew up outside of Jacksonville. It also happens to be where Greg went to elementary school - so his mind was totally blown. He kept turning towards me long after they were done going, "Middleburg, Florida!?!"

The new Rufus Wainwright CD comes out tomorrow. Yahoo!!
