Ah, the 80's

I recently became a bit nostalgic and added the movie Teen Witch to my Netflix queue. It arrived over the weekend, and Greg was awesome enough to actually watch it with me. (I think it helped that there was drinking involved) For those who don't know, Teen Witch is about a high school girl who wishes she was popular, finds out she's a witch on her 16th birthday, and casts a spell to become the most popular girl in school. It's pretty awesome. The entire movie is filled with cheesy goodness, but I'm not sure anything compares to the scene I've posted. The real fun starts about 30 seconds in. Enjoy!!

Grrrr to the M.F. Arrrg.

Pulled from the Buffy sing-a-long website:

Sad news today: Buffy (and all other Fox TV shows) have been pulled from theatrical distribution.

Criterion Pictures notified me last night that Fox has pulled the license for ALL their TV shows from theatrical exhibition. This is effective immediately, and of course includes Buffy and “Once More With Feeling”. This means that we have to cancel all upcoming bookings of the Buffy Musical production. Notice for this was very sudden and unexpected, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it will cause.

I don’t yet have an official written statement as to why exactly this has happened, but from my understanding the circumstance around the suspension of the rights for our screenings isn’t greed or anything like that - so please don’t use this as an excuse to lash out at Fox. Basically, the idea of presenting television shows in a theatre is so new that there are a lot of details that still need to be resolved around payments of residuals, deals with the guilds and unions, etc (I don’t know any specifics, but these are some of the issues that usually come up). Both Fox and Criterion need to fix some of these issues before they can continue to do any theatrical screenings.

Of course this couldn't have happened NEXT week, since Greg and I were planning on attending the show THIS weekend. I'm so bummed. At least I didn't rent a full bunny suit like I had originally planned.

I feel bad for the people that organized these screenings, because its not like they were doing something illegal, ya know? They applied for and were issued licenses to do the screenings. I'm not sure how the payment to studios is figured, but I'm sure Fox is making money off of the shows. I just really hope that everything is figured out sooner rather than later and us Buffy fans are able to get back to being nerds.

I would see this opening weekend.

So, fan videos on YouTube are pretty much hit or miss, but this one is done really well. Even if you're not fan of either show, you can at least appreciate the quality of the mashup. Just wanted to share it.

The banana peels get me every time!

I stumbled upon a website that has nerdy funny comic strips.
I've been enjoying them today while I don't work.
Good nerdy fun.
