I just read that "Fastlane" won an Emmy back in 2003. Granted it was for stunt coordination. (for the episode "Asslane" -- man I miss that show) But this means we can now call it the Emmy Award winning television show, Fastlane. The world is a good place.

Rednecks are scary.

One of the ladies that works here went up to my boss' boss and pointed at this picture in her cube and said “Who is that guy? He looks scary. Take that scary man down!” It’s a picture of Toby Keith.

Awesome.

I'm not an addict, It's cool

I cleaned my apartment over the weekend. Those who know me well, realize that the major new organizations should have been notified when this happened. I have a floor! It really is there!

So, to clean I had to put away all of my shoes which normally dwell randomly throughout the entire apt (and I really do mean everywhere - the kitchen and bathroom are not off limits). I realized as I was putting them into the closet that I really have quite a few pairs. So I decided to count. I OWN THIRTY EIGHT PAIRS OF SHOES! Ri-GD-diculous.

Last night I had dinner with my friend Michele at PF Chang's (yum). We sat at our table for quite a while after we had paid because we haven't hung out and talked in a really long time. Finally, I guess the waitress really wanted us to leave - so she gave us these scratch off tickets that you can win Jordan Creek Mall gift certificates but you have to claim the gift certificate that day. (I wish more restaurants would offer that - get out of here! take some money!) We both ended up getting $10 gift cards so we went shopping. We went to Pay Less. I bought two new pairs of shoes. Michele is a bad influence. She's responsible for at least 4 pairs of shoes I own now. Oh well - at least I made it an even 40 pairs.

I have a problem.

What your man got to do with me?

I got a man.

I never thought I'd meet someone who likes Kung Fu, zombie movies, and Buffy AND is super hot to boot. And he thinks I'm pretty. It's so cool. Greg is coming up this weekend and Friday cannot get here soon enough. The Taste of Des Moines and the Fringe Festival is this weekend, so I'm glad we'll have plenty to do. It is going to be super deluxe hot (forecasted high is 97 for both Saturday and Sunday). So we'll be tasting some really sweaty Des Moines. Dirrty!

In other random odd news....
My home page for the internet at work has a bunch of helpful links to get around the company, company news, employee anniversaries - you know, the usual. And I'm not sure if there has always been a "fact of the day" at the top of the page and I never noticed, or if it's just special for today. But it says "Slugs have four noses." How random.

Another pic from London I came across in my email inbox. Don't we look a little too happy to be eating Subway?

I just bought a new digital camera. It allows me to take fun pictures - like of my little magnetic sculpture at work!

So I guess I didn't post about my CDs being yanked a while back.

It's not really an exciting story. Someone broke the back driver's side window in my car and stole pretty much every CD I owned. (Mom still had about 10 of my CDs - so those were spared) It sucks. I was pissed. I got a good number of them by borrowing from some people at work and having my friend Sarah burn me copies.

I have a list on Amazon.com now with all the CDs I haven't gotten back yet. (See sidebar) Go buy them for me. My birthday is about a month and half away. Or if you have the CD I'm missing - make me a copy - that would be cool too. Please. :)

Yes, I am spoiled - thanks for asking.

Boring and the Beast

I was suckered into working another show at the playhouse - and by "suckered" I mean I was asked very nicely and for some reason I didn't say no. This time around I am not in charge of anything. I am merely a dresser - and not the servant who turns into the vanity in the actual play. I dress people back stage. Quick changes and such. Last night was the first night that I had to be at rehearsal - it was "crew view." Basically everyone who works backstage gets to see the whole show.
For those who are unfamiliar, the musical is based on the Disney film of the same name. Dancing flatware and what not. I've seen the movie a bazillion times. (Kelsey and I once were bored and decided to see if we could recite the entire movie by memory - we did pretty well considering we weren't watching the movie at the same time - we were at a park.)
Oh. my. god. I was so bored last night. I still remember most the lines - which really is kind of disturbing since I haven't seen the movie in probably 10 years. The musical is word for word the movie. With extra (boring) songs (except for "If I Can't Love Her" - I really really like that song) and more dialouge which is either A. boring exposition B. not funny jokes or C. both. Maybe if I saw the musical on Broadway or something I would feel differently. But for now - oi. I have to spend the next 4 weeks listening to this play over and over again - about 25 times. Last night I left at intermission. I couldn't take it.

In extremely better news: I'm going to St. Louis for the weekend! Yippee!

7.07.2005

This morning I think I was the most scared I've ever been. I turned on the TV to check the weather and instead there were all these images of what had happened in London.

When 9/11 happened, I didn't know anyone that could have possibly been in New York. The pain/hurt/shock/anger at that attack was different for me. I realize this event happened overseas and not to the country I live in, but this time I know someone that could be directly affected by it. I love someone who could be directly affected by it. I couldn't stop shaking or crying - I felt like I was going to throw up. Even though I now know that Mike is okay - he sent an email to friends and family to let them he is safe - I still can't shake the feeling. I've been fighting back tears since I came in to work this morning. As I'm typing this I realize that all these thoughts are very "me" centered and I sound a little too selfish considering what everyone there must be going through. I don't want to sound as though my thoughts and prayers are not with those that are more affected than myself. They are.

On a MUCH lighter note:
I was looking at my calendar this morning and I saw that I wrote "MY BIRTHDAY!" really big on August 25th. I apparently don't know that my own birthday the 24th.
