HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

went to see chelsea's play The Eight last night. hilarious and sad and dark. jeff's reaction: "i don't like christmas." and i hate to admit it, but i really like chelsea's new hair. blonde looks surprisingly good on her. after the play, jeff (iowa jeff, not florida jeff) and i went to the royal mile for drinks and i drank enough to actually say, "so, let's talk about this whore you started dating two days after you dumped me." HA! it was all good though. we laughed, drank, smoked, and genuinely enjoyed eachother's company. i miss that jackass.
tonight i'm going to see LOTR. i feel like such a nerd because tickets were purchased in advance.

Oh What A World

OK. I'm totally in love with Rufus Wainwright. And not in a "I wanna do him" way. The concert on Saturday ..... amazing. I love all of his songs and seeing him perform them live was just brilliant. Awesome.

Other fun happenings this weekend:
I went to a boxing match on Friday at the Convention Center. Amber knew one of the fighters so we got free tickets to go. I had never understood boxing or why people would get so into it, but I figured it would be a fun experience. It was super fun! I got really into it--yelling and jumping around. I would totally go again. Also, the line to the ladies' restroom was really short, whereas the guys' line was super deluxe long. Nice bonus.

Last night I started my volunteering "job" at the Des Moines playhouse. I helped register people for auditions. It was cool. I got to watch the auditions after everyone was signed up. It's a smaller play so it was a nice introductory night for me. One of the next auditions is for "The Frog Prince" which calls for 50-60 kids. That might not be so much fun. Starting in January I'm going to be a prop master for "Rosa Parks" and also part of the set crew (painting!) for "My Way." I'm really excited to start doing something besides watching the WB.

I hope you get laryngitis.

The Osco Soundtrack used to play "I hope you dance" all the fucking time and it made my ears bleed. I thought I had finally escaped it. As I'm typing this, I'm on hold and what song is playing? I'm tempted to hang up and call back later.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL (a few days late)

Hope everyone's holiday was fun. Mine was super great. TurkeyDay was spent with the Long clan in Ankeny, complete with a furious game of spoons that almost resulted in a fat lip. Work on Friday was pointless. I read my new book pretty much all day.

I spent the weekend in Southeast Iowa, visiting the dad's side Friday and Saturday night and mom's Sunday for another turkey feast. Highlights of the weekend included watching The Sandlot and The Shining, hanging out and drinking beer at Faeth's with Cuz Aaron, and telling my stepdad to "chill out." It really wasn't an action-packed visit, but nice nonetheless. I didn't get home until 9 last night though, so I missed Alias. Not happy.

This weekend is Rufus!
